Ever wonder what lessons an 85 year old construction company has learned? We talked with Mike Espeset, President of Story Construction, on how process and people are at the hub of growth.
It was a cold, brisk, day in January when Mike Espeset, President of Story Construction, swung open one of the many job trailers stashed in their parking lot. From the outside it looked like any other job trailer, but as we made our way through the door we noticed: this isn’t normal. Wrapping from wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling was a massive grid that tracks a single project from beginning to end. Each person who touches the project will have responsibilities and accountability based on this schedule, and it really is quite impressive – but from Story Construction, this attention to quality, accountability, and integrity comes at no surprise.
“This might be a good time to mention that Story Construction is not normal. Not “not normal” in a bad way, but in a very good way.”
This might be a good time to mention that Story Construction is not normal. Not “not normal” in a bad way, but in a very good way. From the time Story became a client of Bangert, Inc. back in 1989 we’ve always said that there’s something special about the company. But is it Story’s people? Their process? As we found out: it’s both, and, as they are with Story, when both of these elements are rooted in a company’s core values success is just a part of the natural progression.
